The Ladies Of The Lake series

Having been inspired by memories and laughter, my “Ladies” came to me while painting at the lake.

In all respects, Ladies of the Lake are simple but meaningful lifetime moments, full of laughter and love. My hope is they stir up these recollections in your life too.

One of the things I am passionate about is body image. Women relate to other women in their own way.  Their bonds and mutual knowingness is expressed in their body language and this is why I paint mainly women.  They celebrate and treasure their friendships in the safety net of each other. Sometimes they share, laugh and cry all at the same time.

My intent as the artist is to invite you into my paintings, to identify with the humour and antics of my ladies.

My ladies are rotund and voluptuous.  I enjoy painting the curvaceous lines and shading.  As society dictates we must be a certain proportion, I say and paint that we do not.

The ladies are intended to be whimsical, but real.  As you study, analyze and identify with each picture I hope you make connections to your personal life. Often I hear of my paintings reminding you of a memory or special someone.

Dear Woman: The human form in whatever vessel you carry is beautiful, because it is you. You are beautiful in all that you are and all that you will be.

My paintings are all acrylic on canvas and often I work on two or three at a time.  I love how my art has made a connection with people in a positive way and as long as it does, I will continue to be inspired.

I grew up on a farm in Redwater, AB and then moved to the big city of Edmonton where I pursued a career in Computer Graphics. After meeting my husband and moving to Spruce Grove, AB we started a pipeline construction company where I assisted in the office and day to day happenings. Raising three sons and all the while, dabbling in various types of art forms. My “ladies” began as an experiment one afternoon in 2005 at our cabin on Pigeon Lake, AB.
